I feel like I’m gravitating back towards Prattens, said as that may be. So I will be selling my 8 key Hall and Sons and I wanted to see if I could find some interest out there.
The flute is cocus and Sterling, with a new head and barrel from Jon C, as the original was missing. It used pewter plugs for the bottoms keys. Jon said it was a good flute when he fixed it up for me. There was a tiny crack in the base of the new barrel just above the ring, I had a local instrument guru fix it and now you have to get up close and personal to see it.
Jon also got all the keys back in order and put cork blocks under them. He also said that the flute played in tune, even though it was older. This is a later Hall and Sons, it has larger more Ruddallish holes that Grey Larsen’s flute.
The flute is gorgeous overall, the wood has a bit of nice figuring and is quite red, Jon’s headjoint and barrel in Jamaican Cocus, is beginning to darken nicely, so it will be a match in a couple of years.
I am looking for around $1800 OBO to cover my costs with the instrument. I can provide pics and sound samples.
Let me know if you are interested, I will get some photos up and maybe some ingenious soul will link them for me!
