In case you’re wondering WHY I would sell such a great flute, I’m trying to round up some pipes fundage so that I can get a set of pipes.
Having had a keyed flute for about two years, I find that I don’t play this flute nearly enough to justify keeping it, so I’m offering it up for sale. This is beautiful flute and was built from a single piece of timber, so the grain matches up. I ordered it from Terry back in October 2005, and received it in March of 2006, and have really enjoyed it. It has the improved elliptical embouchure, the eccentric bore head design, the MDT instead of a dedicated tuning slide. It is a light flute with a great tone. It also has a C natural thumb hole on the back. I’d like $800 plus shipping and will include a plastic pistol case. The pictures are from November of 2007, and the flute has darkened a little bit since then. Let me know if you’d like updated pictures. I’ll also try to get a sound clip recorded if anybody wants one. According to his website, Terry’s current pricing for this flute would be $853 for the flute + $50 for the Cooktown Ironwood for a total of $903 + shipping + whatever his wait time is now.
Some of the members here have played this flute, so maybe they’ll chime in with a comment or two.
I see you. You’ve been on the fence about buying my flute. Go on, admit it. You really, REALLY want this flute, but you can’t quite talk yourself into it. Well, you’ll be happy to know that this flute is still available. Yes, and for a limited time only, if you buy this flute, I’ll throw in the holes absolutely free!!
As I’m selling this flute to help fund the purchase of a new uilleann practice set, it occurred to me that I might save a step or two. So, I’m also open to trades for a good quality used practice set, in good repair, with a working reed that would be suitable for learning on. I don’t need keys or fancy mounts, just a good solid reliable practice set.
Sure, Jim. It’ll probably be Sunday, though. The baby hasn’t been sleeping as much as we’d like, and I’m pretty wiped out. Saturday our 15 year old has a band contest and a football game, on top of the rest of the chaos around here, lol. I hope that’s okay.
Here you go, Jim. The playing’s worth what it cost you , but it’s representative of how the flute sounds, at least when I play it. Man, I hate recording myself.
