FS Keyless Byrne Blackwood and Silver

Ok, so awhile ago I got a used keyless Byrne from Doc. All the familiar Rudall harware, 3 body sections, headjoint, barrel silver slide, silver rings.

The flute is in perfect shape, no damage and no issues. It plays beautifully and has a very warm tone (compared to a pratten flute).

However, I just can’t get used to it. I figured that a really good ruddall would be somewhat similar in playing characteristics to a pratten. But that isn’t the case at all.

My loss someone else’s gain.

If you are interested in the flute drop me a pm. And I can send photos of the flute if you leave an email in your pm.

Nor is the converse true. Some of us are just Pratten people or Rudall people. Neither better nor worse, just different lips or something.

I would’ve pounced on this a couple of years ago; best of luck on your sale.

Right. The Byrne has a very focused sound.

Oh yeah, she’s a 2003 flute, as added info.

Yeah, I’ve found that I just play pratten better than rudall!

Do you have a picture? I could not find a web site or any pictures of Byrne flutes on the Web.

Bryan lives outside a small town in Vt, he
lives very quietly and I don’t think he has
a computer. Lovely fellow.

The flute is slender and elegant, blackwood and
silver, the center section divided in two, as
is standard with Rudalls.

The holes are medium. It’s easy to finger.

does anyone know how to post sound samples? I’m posting pics and possibly sounds samples later

same as pictures…kinda

you need to get them hosted somewhere first
then provide the links to them

if the picture is not too big, etc you can do the IMG thing but it is hard on the members that are still on dial-up.

Note: hyphen!?

where can i get sound and picture hosts?

Thanks

We may have somewhere some clips from
Brad Hurley, who plays a Byrne.

Here are some shots of the flute from several angles including the best I could get of down the bore.

Jim if you can find those clips that would be excellent.

Make me an offer!

If I may just say so, this is a great flute.

Mark is a stand up guy.

A few folks have posted things about Byrnes on this board that may have given some the impression that they’re more demanding/difficult than other flutes. I haven’t found this to be the case in the 7 or 8 I’ve had.

I will say that the Byrne is a flute with enormous potential and that a player would never be likely to “outgrow” one. There is amazing depth and potential to these flutes.

Doc

I have sent you a PM, please get in touch!
