I am posting my gorgeous Paddy Ward boxwood flute for sale. It’s a great instrument and it is only being sold for financial reasons. The best pics of it are the ones that Paddy already took when the flute was completed. Those can be seen on his website under the “Boxwood” section:
The actual color of the flute more resembles the darker image, rather than the brightly lit photo. I will post a pic of the headjoint soon as there has been a slight discoloration of the stain near the embouchure hole. I’m happy to send/post additional pictures if requested. I’ll also work on getting a sound sample posted tonight.
Also, about a year after purchasing the flute, I asked Paddy if he could open up the embouchure just a little bit to make it more free flowing. It’s an easy yet satisfying instrument to play!
The original purchase price was $2500. I bought it through Doc Jones in February, 2008. Please PM me if interested! $2200
Yeah, it is a beaut. Sorry I forgot to mention, Loren, it’s the Hawkes model. He didn’t tell me exactly how much he changed the embouchure. This is what he said about the modification:
“I tweaked the embouchure and have opened up the sound a little. There is still some resistance which gives it a nice full sound. The low D is strong and easy and I can play it up to the 3rd octave A with relative ease.”
Here are two images showing the discoloration on the headjoint and the modification that Paddy made to the embouchure. We left the modification unstained so I could try it out for a while first. I liked the change and didn’t ever send it back for touch-up:
Also I forgot to mention that the case is perfect on the inside, but the outside vinyl skin is a little scratched up from a small furry animal. The flute was not involved Happy to send pics along, just ask.
