[SOLD]Special Paddy Ward Delrin flute

As I thought-pretty quickly! The flute is SOLD, thanks for your interest!

Hi Folks,

I don’t know how many were made like this by Paddy Ward, but I imagine not many. Like many flutemakers, Paddy stopped making flutes in Delrin around the time this one was made, a couple of years ago. It’s got a solid wood insert that includes the embouchure hole, and goes all the way around, like some embouchure bands done in metal. But this one is very hard to see (it’s made of Blackwood) and with the satin finish on the Delrin, it just looks like a Blackwood flute until you get really close! And then you can see the faint lines of the insert where the wood stops and the Delrin starts again, as well as the light grain of the wood. Another nice touch; Paddy made his signature crown from Blackwood too.

I’m selling this for a friend (another Chiff member) who let me play it first to see how different it is from my all Delrin Ward. I’ve been curious ever since I heard about it. Now I know-there is a good reason to put that piece of Blackwood in the head like that-it really gives much more of a woody tone. The second octave is pretty sweet too!

It’s in like new condition (not played much), and comes with a hard pistol case. The price is $750 plus $15 shipping, and the sale is limited to the USA per the owner’s request.

I would keep this myself, but my Ward Delrin plays a little sharper, which works well for me since I play a little flat, especially when I’m playing quietly. This one is well in tune, plays easily and has a very nice tone. Medium to large (E and F#) holes, but the stretch is pretty easy compared to many.
