What happened to whistlethis.com?

Sorry if it’s been already discussed, but I couldn’t find any specific results with the search function.
The last tune posted was from March, 2008.
Does anyone know why it’s not active?

Well, as far as I can gather from the forums, the site’s still active as such, and there are uploads, too, even if the last one dates from November 2008. I think it’s more a matter of opportunity than a matter of inactivity. No need to be overly worried, then - only my impressions, of course. Maybe some words of encouragment and some additional activity on behalf of the users would be in order?

P.S. Don’t flame me for just talking about it - I’m truely not ready (yet?) to participate there…

I think Rob just got busy, maybe a new job, and moved on to other things. The last time I had mail contact with him was about a year ago now, when he fixed the Ryan Duns links. As MM says, people are still posting, but no new tunes.

Actually what I really wanted to mean by “not active” was that no new tunes were being introduced and what I especially look for, the mentor examples.

I checked the links on the board this morning (three-something hours ago), and they did work then. This link should take you there.

And to be sure: Absolutely no offense meant - I was just observing things…

The site is still there, but as Romulo asked, there are no new tunes being posted by Wynder (the site owner) and therefore nothing new is happening.

This despite several offers of assistance.

I can only assume he forgot about it or else grew bored with the effort required, at the same time as getting very busy with new work.

I understand life getting busy, but I wish Wynder would pass the torch, or at least find another member willing to post tunes. It’s a good idea.
Heck, I guess there’s no reason it can’t be done here, as a thread.

There’s an entire forum for it:

+1…for Clips & Snips

Excellent work by Tony to keep the forum active all these years…
An Internet Angel if ever there was one…

I’m feeling a bit stupid. I looked at that forum and it makes absolutely no sense to me. I must be missing a fundamental rule or something but it just seems to be threads stating someone has sent a clip in but no links to said clips.

I’m sure you will all enlighten me, or at least I hope so. Please say I’m not the only one who is non-plussed.

I did think, looking at Tony’s avatar that perhaps he was beaming the clips directly to my brain.

That got me as well, but…

“Clips and Snips
No. Not about haircuts. Discussion forum for the Clips and Snips tune archive.”

Don’t click on the forum title (“Clips and Snips”)- this is just a list of people saying “I’ve posted”.

Instead, in the forum description there is a hyperlink on the words “Clips and Snips tune archive”. Click on this (ie on the words “Clips and Snips tune archive.”)

Hope that helps…

There’s actually another site. Tony posts in the Clips & Snips forum when a tune is added to the other site. Go here:

http://www.tinwhistletunes.com/clipssnip/newspage.htm

You’ll see the categories on the left (Jigs, Reels, Hornpipes, etc.). When someone submits a new tune, Tony posts here so we know something new has been added.

I’ve never posted one, and there may be more to it than that, but that’s the gist of it.

Hope that helps,
Jason
