I’m so doggone tickled with the whistle I bought from The Flute Maker that I thought I’d go ahead and make some home recordings to share so you could see why I like it so much. But I’m not sure how I go about posting them here. They are wav. files. Dale? MTGuru? Are you the ones I ask to get permission to attach a file? And then how would I do it?
Very sorry if this has been discussed before. I tried searching “attaching sound files” and “sound samples” but did not find just what I needed. Thanks for any help.
I’m not affiliated with this maker–just stumbled upon another poster’s inquiry and then the sbusequent discussion and review.
But I did just order another one. . . I am a hopeless WHOA sufferer. Sigh. Can’t wait for it to arrive!
C&F does not have the facilities to host sound files, same for photos. Basically, you have to upload your sound files to a web site that will host your sound files and once there, refer to them from your C&F posts. Box.net is a popular site for hosting your sound files and they have been used by quite a few posters here, myself included. If you are into video then YouTube can work as well.
I hope that is helpful.
I’ve exchanged email on whistle making with Tyrone and he seems rather nice and knows what he is doing. His shop is surely well equipped. I’d like to try one of his whistles and look forward to hearing your samples.
And do convert your .wav files to .mp3 format.
Each file will be at least ten time smaller in size,
so much quicker to upload and to download for listening.
Here is one song I put on Box. net. I have some more in the folder if this does not give you enough of a taste of the maple “flute” I bought from Tyrone Head:
I recorded this on my laptop using a microphone that was sitting on my dresser next to the computer. It is completely un-enhanced, and please remember that I am merely a hobbyist, so consider that as you listen. I’m just very fond of this whistle’s sound & playability. I have a lot of whistles, although most are not made of wood.
I believe there is also a Whistle This site where people share tunes and note which whistle they were recorded on; all log in and uploading instructions are at the site.
I should have said: last new “mentor tune” for learning.
There are recent uploads of “pupil’s tunes” on the site.
From the site:
Every two weeks a new traditional tune is posted: sheet music, whistle notation and a sample clip if it’s available. You grab the music and take the two weeks to learn the tune and make it your own; then, record the tune on your PC and upload it to WhistleThis.com for others to hear!
We’re currently learning The Sailor’s Wife – join us and contribute your style!
So this addition of new tunes has stopped nearly two tears ago.
