Clips 'n Snips Site Announcement

I’ve been hosting the Clips site for about a year now on my business web space. As I’m looking to expand my business web presence and will need to utilize more of my space, I’m unable to continue hosting the Clips site. Unfortunately, it is looking for a new home. Some have volunteered in the past to host the site, so if those of you that were interested still are, then please let me know. It’s our hope not to have to delete the contributions received over the past year, but anyone wanting copies of the clips should download them soon in the event no one gives Clips a new home.

Tony Higgins has done an amazing job as the webmaster and he’ll always have my thanks and admiration.

Thanks to all the contributors!

Teri

Teri, what kind of bandwidth are these files currently using?

Tony,

I’d have to go check on the exact number, but would suggest a minimum of 300 (I have 500) for the site. Whomever takes it on might want to encourge people to post on their own sites while Clips provides the description and link; more of a central area/clearing house, so to speak.

Teri

Teri,
I have sufficient bandwidth to host the Clips 'n Snips website.

Interested ?

You bet, Tony. Email me at your convenience.
Thanks

Teri

Tony has enough bandwidth to support a medium-sized country.

Small country… Zamunda perhaps.

Our thanks to you, Teri-K, for graciously providing the space for so long.

Hi Teri, just to say thanks for providing a great resource for us enthuisiastic amateurs!Whilst the value of Clips as a learning resource has been previously debated(and i’m of the opinion that i’ve never heard a player that i didn’t learn something from-even if it’s what NOT to do!),it has given me a chance to hear others with an obsession for whistles and Itrad. Its been a great spur to practicing and (slow!)improvement in my own playing.Long may it continue if anyone is gracious enough to provide us a new home!

Tony,

Thanks for offering up the bandwidth. I’ll cancel the order for the Cray supercomputer. I was going to pay it out by the month.

Dale

I’m very relieved Clips’n’Snips will continue. Some of the tunes posted have become part of my playlist. It’s one of the only ways I have to learn from other people.

Thanks, Teri and Toni

Cara

You’re all very welcome. I’m glad the site will continue as well.

No problem Dale… I’ll only ask for trips every now-and-then in C&F’s LearJet.

I have improved through the use of Clips n Snips. Trying to make a sound clip to send in takes lots of practice and lots of mistakes, but that’s how one improves. Thank you for the website.

One question, though. Do the songs on there, now, get dumped?

Thanks again,
John Palmer

John - The contents of the site will be moved to a new location. Whether or not some tunes will be removed is up to the new host. If I had continued to host, I probably would have done some housecleaning to remove clips older than the first of this year. It would be nice to keep everything, forever, but not really practical.

Teri

I’d like to offer this information now so there won’t be any questions (or fears) later.
My intent is to move (copy) the existing files to a new location and change the necessary codes so the website will load these files from the new server.
As far as the user is concerned, the operation of the website will function the same.
If you have bookmarks or shortcuts on your computer that linked directly to files on Teri’s host, Just return to the menu, find the file you’re looking for and save a new bookmark.

I finally got it together enough to record a clip for this great site, only to find that it’s still in limbo. Rats! I just want you all to know, now that you can’t hear it, that it was the most brilliant piece of whistling ever recorded. It was going to change the world. Really.
