This is a double post. (Excuuuse meee.)
10/22/02 Okay, we’re back in business. Some of you may have noticed nothing has been going on for awhile. (Understatement.) So, anyway, I’ve taken total control of the site, got my own domain name: Tinwhistletunes.com (Clips&Snips was taken. Unbelieveable.) To keep things less confusing, I decided to change the name of the site. (Note the graphic change at the top.) I’m toying with the idea of not continuing the category pages and just posting links on this page. Does anyone care? If no one tells me otherwise, that’s what I’ll do. If you think the category pages (Reels, Jigs, etc) are useful, let me know and I’ll continue to update them.
I’ve been saving seven peoples’ tune submissions in the meantime. So, here they are. If you sent me something and I haven’t posted it, email me and send it again. (Sorry, in advance.) Here’s Aaron Walden playing Auld Lang Syne on a Clarke D (original), and Autoharp. Sweetone sends Heather Breezes, a reel played on a High D Bloodwood Thin Weasel. Jeff Shannon, a friend and session partner, plays Frahers Jig on a keyless Olwell D flute. Phillip Douglas writes, “Hi, here’s Dan Meyers of Skean Dubh playing first Uilleann pipes intro, then whistle (solo)” on Foggy Dew. Someone sings on this one. Might be Dan, might be Phillip. I got a little mixed up with the email. Peter Laban writes, “I put down Colonel Fraser, an old favourite on the pipes but never much before on the whistle. It goes well on the whistle though. One of the ‘big’ reels, having five parts. I play it on a ‘Peter Laban improved’ Feadog, black head nickle, formerly one of the dead whistles but I thought it was worth trying to scrape down the blade like Cillian OB is doing…” Dave (email me with your last name, I didn’t save it) writes, "…from Robin Williamsons tune book that has a few Welsh tunes in. It’s a medley of three of them the first is Tri Manner Ton (Three half tunes) the second is Lady Owens Delight and the third is The Bishop of Bangor’s Jigg. Lastly, we have Maid Behind The Bar on an Abell blackwood D by someone whose name I didn’t save. I’ve emailed for the missing info. I’ll try harder in future. Tony.
Personally I like the subcategories, I’d vote for keeping them.
Also don’t forget to change the titles of the HTML documents. The main page is still titled Clips and Snips and that will show in any bookmarks people make.
Thanks for carrying on with the clips n snips idea. I too vote for the sub catagories and have one other suggestion as long as you’re in the process of redoing the site. I don’t know about anyone else, but white text on a black background seriously affects my eyes after looking at it for a while. I’m a corporate web site developer and have heard this same complaint from other people about black background web sites with a significant amount of white text. Would you at least consider going with black text on a white or light colored background? I know it’d take some time, but it sure would be easier on the eyes when reading through it all!
Jeepers. Thanks for the feedback. Looks like the categories stay. No big deal. And Denny, thanks for the advice on the background. My aim is to keep this simple, useable, and to the point (unlike some of my verbiage). If a light background/dark text works better for people, who am I to say no?? (I could be a butthead, but I’m not.) (Hold your tongue, Loren.) No big deal switching things. I’m compiling a list of minor fixes. I’m seriously thinking of deleting Tune of the Week before it grows mold. It’s like that plastic-wrapped bowl at the back of the refrigerator that you’ll deal with later. As soon as I get time, I’m going to make another t-shirt design. (I never was happy with the last one.) I have a few partially done designs saved. I’m paying $100/year for the site (well, $90 anyway). If tshirt sales subsidize it, I can buy more whistles that I don’t need. That’s a good thing, right? (Preaching to the choir. he he.)
And Dale and Rich, if you’re looking, I need a link update on the main Chiff link page and the forum link (should be the last time!): tinwhistletunes.com/clipssnip/
Thanks
Tony
Thanks for all the hard work, Tony. I also like the categories, and have had the same problem as Denny in having my eyes wig out when trying to read the text with the background color the way it is.

Good question!. First I have to get them up for sale. I was planning on the cafepress.com route. I’m a bit bugged that they limit their graphics to 8"x10" I have some designs, and I’ll have to adapt them so they don’t look goofy at that size. I’ll announce when they’re ready. Thanks in advance for your support. When they’re up, I’ll be open to suggestions for improvements. Afterall, the better they look, the better they’ll sell.
Tony
They’re organized by date and tune categegory (reel, jig, etc. It makes it easy to look at updates and it makes easy for me to update new posts. You’ve noticed the list on the left: Reels Jigs, etc, etc. Those are links if you haven’t rolled over or clicked on them.

Well, speaking for myself, I’m usually wondering if a particular tune is in the archive. So it would be convenient if I could just scan down the list of jigs and see if, e.g., “Garret Bary’s” was there. Of course, I can still do that with “Search in Page” but I guess the point is that putting them in order of submission is good for the page maintainer but looks a little chaotic to the page user.
