Because of a problem with my service provider I will not be able to maintain the sound files my site “The Whistle workshop” They should be there for a couple of weeks yet, after that there will just be the pages with no sound files.
I am thinking of putting all the files onto a CD but have not decided yet. If enough people ask I will probably do it, or I might send individual files by email. It all comes down to that wicked word (money)
To all those who have visited my site, I hope you found it of some use.

It is indeed a very nice website. I have recommended it to many people who were looking for an on-line tutorial and I will continue to do so because even without the sound files it will be very nice. I’m sorry this problem arose, but we can only expect people to pay so much for us to learn something we normally would have to pay for ourselves!!! It is very generous of you to leave the written tutorial up.
When I click on the sound icon, it gives a choice of whether to open the file or save it. So, pardon this silliness, I assume that it is considered okay to save your sound files for ourselves. Am I right? Because otherwise they would be protected somehow. Anyway, if it is okay, I am going to save some stuff from there. I really like the slow version, faster version instructional tunes a lot.

Your site has been a great help to me. I’ve just been playing a little over a month and have learned a lot there. Actually, I learned “Down By Yon Sally Gardens” from your site, which was my first proper whistle tune.
I’m really sorry too, to see that you’re having these problems with your provider.
I’ve spent some time thinking about it, and maybe there are a few solutions to this Problem. You could probably save the files to your hard drive, and pack them all together. It would be easy then to share those files with other users on the internet (with programs like BitTorrent). PLUS, once they have the sound by themselves, they can help you to share it for the other users in need of the sounds. This could only become a problem if you have traffic-limit, but there are a lot of people, like myself, who have their PC running all day long. If you think this option may be something for you, feel free to contact me about it.
Perhaps, with permission, you might make them available on the forum for download. Since this forum is dedicated to the whistle anyway maybe they will make provision on the Chiff and Fipple site for this. It’s definatley worth checking into.
