Videos of Oklahoma gathering

Well, NancyF made it to the gathering and we had a grand time playing music and checking out instruments!

Here’s 2 videos taken with my cheap digital camera.

The first one is “Britches Full of Stitches” which is one of those tunes that everyone seems to know. We only go through it one time, but it sounds pretty good! Watch it here:

The second one is a Hawaiian song called “Ka Leo O Ka Manu,” which translates to “the voice of the bird.” The song talks about a bird that is calling to all the children of Hawaii who have left the islands (especially from a town called Nanakuli) to return so that they can be together again. Thanks to Glen (Mrs. LimuHead’s brother) for hosting the video, and to Mrs. LimuHead’s parents for hosting us!

That was fun! All C&F gatherings should post vids.

Delightful.

Hmmm…We’re hoping to get a gathering together pretty soon. We’ll have to look into this. It would have been pretty funny to get vid of us discussing (and drinking) the poteen a couple of years ago.

Great videos! Thanks for sharing those..

Brilliant music folks. I especially liked “Ka Leo O Ka Manu,” you have a very pleasant singing voice sir. You do know, I mostly wear hawaiian floral print shirts, and listening to you singing made feel as though the Island breezes were running over my hairless scalp. Too bad more folks didn’t show up, it looks like it was a great time.

Wow. Thanks for sharing. I loved your Uke playing and singing. I now think I’ll get my Uke back out. I never thought about using a capo on one.

I use a banjo capo on my uke and my tenor guitar.

We had a great time playing, chatting, snacking, drinking, smoking and not in that order either. I think it was more like: chatting, playing, smoking, chatting, drinking, playing, smoking, eating, chatting, drinking, playing, smoking, playing, chatting, drinking. And that doesn’t count the after party.

Cool! Thanks for sharing it.
