Sorry for the delay posting the photos. Had to rest up and all (all that beer that was left over…) Just kidding. Now I’m on vacation for 2 weeks, so loads of time to goof off.
About 40 people attended. A few regular posters on the board, a number of lurkers, some local session friends, my mom and 2 nuns from Ireland who were psyched to hear the music. One of them had to leave because she had to work the next morning and she had to drag the other one out. About 15 musicians playing at once. We played a bunch before dinner and a bunch after and I met a bunch of new people. I tried to warm the place up with a metal firepit but I managed to smoke people out. I smelled like I was out camping. But, hey, the barbeque wasn’t too shabby.
A friend I invited met a couple of whistlers he worked with 25years ago and one of those whistlers knew one of the nuns from when his kids went to the school she taught at. My flute playing friend, I had no idea he was a Berkeley police officer, works outreach with mentally ill on the street. My wife, an rn, works with the same clientele with Berkeley Mental Health as does her coworker, a psychiatrist, from the same group. My son, a physics student at UC Berkeley, had a conversation with someone who has astral projected. Amazing conversations during dinner break.
We didn’t do too much photo taking. Dana took a few and I did. There’s a blurry one with me in it with a dopey grin. My wife says that’s my beer smile. Could be. A person who said she couldn’t see took that one. I recorded one or two tunes. I’ll get those posted. One has a whistle-orchestra sound to it.
