FINALLY - More 2004 NE Gathering Pics and Vids

Hi Folks,

Sorry it has taken me so long to post these. Going through tough times.

The Gathering was a wonderful success. Everyone seemed to have a relaxing time. And all those whistles!

It was a pleasure organizing the event and if no one else wants the job, I’d like to volunteer for the next one. I have some ideas for bigger and better. Anyone interested in a regional or even national gathering? Would all depend on numbers of people interested. We can do big or the dozen or so this past time is fine with me.

I apologize for the shortness of the mpegs. While I made sure the batteries were charged, I didn’t bring enough floppys. (Older Mavica)

You can find the photos and videos at the following page address:

Thank you to all that attended. I enjoyed meeting ALL of you!

Sorry Bloomfield for blowing your cover. You shouldn’t have told me I tongue too much. That’s why Americans sugar coat things.

Mike

Gunther tells me that he asked in a friendly way whether you had ever considered tonguing a little less. Go ahead, call him a liar.

And I don’t mind at all if people think that’s Bloomfield in the pictures. I’d love to be that young and hairy again.

Nice stuff Mike. Yes, this was a great afternoon. Too bad Bloomfield couldnt make it though (as well as Tyghress et al).
Next time (and there WILL be a next time) we gotta see about begging, borrowing or stealing a digital video recorder for some longer movie clips.

Thanks for all the work Slowair! It’s cool to be able see the mysterious avatars in action.

Hi Mike:
Thanks again for the great job in conceiving and making this event. Great pictures says the guy in the orange shirt.
I was really sorry I had to leave so early, wished I could have stayed til the very end. So many whistles, a hundred and fifty I’d say altogether. But I had to get back to the Coasta Maine via NH’s Lakes Region.
Did you see my First Post: " RamblDoc Finally Speaks " ??
Here’s another first: This is my first " Post A Reply" on this wonderfull web-site.
I’m thinking a good New Topic would be: “Whistle Discoveries at the N.E. Whistle Gathering”
What do you think ?? I would certainly mention your Sindt B-flat, a real eye opener for me. I can think of others, too.
I enjoyed your playing, envious of your steady breath capacity/control and diaphram vibrato. Good fundamentals and rhythm, too. Nice work on The Rose Tree. Keep it up.
Regards to Nancy, ever the good listener.

Great stuff! Looks like everyone had a good time.

What is the tune from the vid of Bloomfield and Dunn?

I recognize it but can’t quite put a name on it.

LEE

That would be the B-part of Earl’s Chair.

Where they both playing the same tune?

Cool. It’s really nice to put faces/avatars together with names. Even Gunther’s. :stuck_out_tongue:

wow these dudes can really play, i thought they were all just bluffing..

Thanks Bloom. You guys sound great, wish we had a little more…

(hint, hint)

Darn, gotta get hubby to fix my computer up so I can view an MPEG…

Walt looks a little nauseous in that one photo, I wonder why?

Robin

Seriously: What a pleasure to see and hear those!

Dale

Are you sure? It doesn’t sound like the second part of Earl’s Chair I know, it’s sounds like another well known reel I don’t play yet, so wouldnt know the name.

Argh. I think you’re right. I wasn’t there, so I am just going on the short clip (Gunther is very bad with tune names). But I’ve wracked my old brain, and now I know.

It’s the B part of Humors of Lissadell. Nice one, btw.

Thanks for the title, I’ll add it to my list (“tunes to learn before I die” list), great, fun session tune for sure.
