Why do you think we have wood floors? It’s a LOT easier to clean up after I spill something
It was only after sending the pictures out I realized that I was not to be seen except in the picture on the wall, and Daughter #2 only showed up with her head turned away. Oh well. Probably a good thing on my part. I suspect my wife has a Dorian Gray type picture somewhere, but I’m not as blessed
It was a great party - a smaller group than last time since some folks were out of town or busy, but the crew who showed up were both a lot of fun and d****ed good musicians. Great motivation to keep working on my own playing - I want to be able to keep up with more tunes!
If I may turn off my irony switch and go with total sincerity, it warms my heart to see these pictures, and all of the pictures of such gatherings. I’m not as active in this little C&F project as I once was, but these pictures remind me that we have done a good thing starting C&F 11 years ago, I think it was.
Hey, I’ll warm it more. My folk music group has two members because of C&F (Limu and monkey’s soon-to-be-bride, Angeline). Our group has never sounded better after 12 years of existence. We just got a formal concert at Mission San Francisco de Solano (most people call it the Sonoma Mission) in addition to several other good ones that are the result of the quality of our recent performances. When we get the new promo shot with both of them in it, I’ll post it here.
it’s awesome you guys live close enough to get together and play like that.
I’m still trying to find time now and again to get out to a session; Brian’s been inviting me out, but real life and other commitments get in the way more often than I like.
What would really be cool is if we could, in a couple years time maybe, do a big national Chiffers Gathering (one in the US, one in the UK perhaps?).
(Incidentally, if anyone is planning on being in the area at the time, the Utah Scottish Festival and Highland Games will be held on June 8th and 9th )
That’s funny, now that I think of it. At the whistle parties at Tony’s, further north, there are usually a ton of whistles of every make laid out on the kitchen table.
We were too busy playing at this one to do the classic swap and try thing.
Also, some regulars bailed on the event at the last minute so it was a smaller crowd.
Eskin had a few out but like I said, we were so busy playing that we forgot to ooh and aah. I sorta remember some various flutes being swapped around. I tried to sell one Burke, but only half-heartedly as we were having fun.
As I recall, there were Burkes, a Copeland or two, Jerry tweaked Gen and perhaps a few more…
None of the pix showed me playing whistle, though i did play a fair bit. I made a point to bring both guitar and guitar-banjo this time because usually there are so many whistles that it’s just more interesting to play something else for the standard tunes..
