This time next year...

This might be silly but… My wife is in her sewing room right now making pillow examples for her upcoming sewing class and watching the Grammys. I would be watching too, but I don’t know who most of the artists are and it’s not very interesting to me because of that.

A thought came to me. There are so many great people and fine musicans who make up this community. We should have our own awards next year.

What we could do is nominate posts from the Tin Whistle Tunes forum as the year goes on and then vote sometime in early February next year and have the results posted at the same time as the Grammys. We can call it The Chiffys, The Wisleys, The Richies, I don’t know. It might be fun. What do you think?

The WhOAs

Any award for best post to Tinwhistle Tunes would automatically have to go to Mick Woodruff every year… no mere mortals could hope to compete against a supreme being!

We could have different category…for example, best newbie, most improved, best air (jig, hornpipe, etc.), best overall, etc.

Exactly. Best reel, hornpipe, etc…

Most Annoying

(I’d win every time  )

No Sam… biggest whiner perhaps!

beats up tony

I second the motion. I’ll be an enthusiastic audience member.

Im all for it.

Then we can have an 80 page thread that
starts with a negative comment about the way they were chosen, etc. etc. etc. etc.

Everybody who won on the Forum is a Suckie-Pie!!!

or something like that.

(:

I wanna be the materialistic one!

WHADDA WE GONNA WIN???

Will there be a “Most Walderific” category?

I think it’s a great idea… and if I may suggest an idea for a PRIZE as someone inquired… could be a whistle.

I know I’d be happy to pitch a copule of dollars into the pot to help pay for it, I think it’s ‘a swell idea!!!’ slaps himself ok, uhhh, I think it’d be pretty cool to have the contest.

I kinda always wanted to start something like that when I originally setup the previous Clips n Snips!!

Since there’s a whole YEAR involved here, there’s plenty of time for Democratic votes according to highly opinionated outcries and movements for change, etc.

Take care all, I hope this takes off!!!

John

Oh yeah, another thought… if this does take off (ihopeihopeihopeihope) we may need to consider the fact that there may be a sudden and possibly steady influx of posts to the Tin Whistle Tunes site… if they need more storage space, those of us with websites might wanna extend the offer of some storage space…

I know I have about 60MB I could spare…

Just a thought. I don’t know how limited or unlimited the storage is on the site.

Yours Aye
John

edited once AGAIN for grahmatikal errers

Shouldn’t need to wait a year. Do one now, with the stuff that’s already there.

I deserve an award for having not posted a tune at all. Most Sensible, for having not tortured any of you.

There should be a category for Mel Gibson most lookeylikey.

I’ll be down here clapping with the crowd! And indeed, why not have awards this year? I think they should be called The Tinneys, or The Pennies. Or the Mockscars.

You can just imagine the winner’s acceptance speech ; “I’d just like to thank my mum,my dad(sniff),Mary Bergin/Joannie/Micko(sniffle),****(enter name of favourite whistlesmith) for building such a wonderful instrument(blubb),my neighbours for putting up with the noise(boohoo!)Im’SO HAPPY TO BE RECEIVING THIS AWARD ON BEHALF OF WHISTLERS EVERYWHERE!!” (disolves into uncontrolLable sobbing)

Hey when do I get to give my speech about the oppressed Native American Tibetans and the virtues of rodents as pets?

I’d like to thank all the little people…

Can we get Carson to host? No Billy Crystal, thanks.

I think Avanutria will win the Best Original Composition category for “Dallas Skies.”
