And finally, the moment we’ve all been waiting for… bodhran roll …jim_mc, nominated by both Martin Milner and Cranberry, wins this year’s prestigious Walden Award for Excellence in Chiff & Fipple Posting. Jim’s Syn Review
Honourable mention goes to Glauber for the most amusing disregard for the nomination process, to the Weekenders for being helpful to Wombat, to mdutr0 for making an effort to help Glauber in the matter of the self-nomination, to Cranberry for honesty in pointing out that jim_mc’s nomination was outside the period for which this award was to be given, and to Wombat for reciprocating the Weekenders’ nomination.
I’d like to thank Mom, Dad and Dale because without them i wouldn’t be here wasting my employer’s time today! I’d like to thank Al Gore for inventing the Internet and Bill Gates for selling it out.
Hell with this… I’m the king of the world!!! Wooohooo!!!
To heck with frequent posters only, we just need a CF Club with our smoking jackets, wing chairs, and perhaps ear plugs for when we get the notion to all whistle Maid at different moments.. Wombly’s post inspired this, and I cast an early nomination for him for the next go-round.
And when we get old, we can expire with honor in our chairs and nobody will notice for a week or so, but only because its slightly quieter. Especially Stone and Bloomfield, who will have huge piles of scholarly publications that one has to weave through to get near em. We’ll know Az and Amar have bit it cause there won’t be the usual gaggle of babes around em.
Serp will have a ton of cast off drill bits and imperfect tubes. Jessie will have a buncha Christie’s auctioneers salivatin’ over her flutes and Anna will be surrounded by street musicians, a guru of notoriety. And so forth…
First, I’d like to thank The Academy. Secondly, I’d like to thank all those people who said I’d never make it. Look where I am now! Third I need to thank all the people involved in the ‘Get Cranberry to be Honest’ project, you are the real winners of this award. Next I’d like to thank Bert and Ernie for being positive role models for so many years.
This is our chance to get it right for once. Remember, the cheering squad from the Structuralist Recorderists’ Online Community Forum is watching everything we do. We don’t want to endure a replay of the ridicule we got from them last time, do we?
(Cranberry, do you know where your pompoms are this time?)
I can’t make an appropriate speech - Susnfx is the current owner of the drinking straw chanter.
Unfortuantely, the only other recording in existence - a practice tune - was deleted earlier this week in an effort to recover disk space, before I knew about the contest. Oops!
Does anyone know where Nanohedron is? He always shows up at the last possible minute. (This job is giving me ulcers. That’s the last time I volunteer for anything.)
The use of the word “Beth” rather than “best,” in one of the categories, was not a typographical error. It was a punlike witticism, made by one of the nominators, on the nominating ballot.
I know it’s hard to know, in an internet post, if a person is being sarcastic, ironic, facetious, or otherwise cynical, but I swear to all of you that I am now being nothing but absolutely sincere.
I am soooooooooo honored, and so touched, and so shocked, and so excited right now, that I’m actually blushing.
This board, and all of you, mean a lot to me. I enjoy reading your posts so much, and have learned to like and respect many of you on many levels. I always try to think before I post, and to observe the reasonable person principle, and I have learned those things from the rest of you.
I put quite a bit of thought into that particular review, and I was pretty proud of the way it came out, but heck, I didn’t even know there would be awards given out, so how could I have expected this!
Thank you Walden, and thanks to Dale, and to Tom Dowling, who consulted with me on the review and who told me about Chiff and Fipple in the first place. God bless all of you.
Well..this is indeed an honour of monumental proproportions blush I hardly know what to say. First of all I’d like to thank all those who made this award possible…Alan, Walden and all those of you who have posted more than I have. pulling out exceedingly lengthy list
First of all I’d like to thank all the “little people”…and uh..all the people of all sizes actually..and uh…
(remainder of speech drowned out by loud orchestral award show music)
Congratulations to all the winners and especially to Jim Mc, whom I have the good fortune to know. For a lad of so few years, he sure knows a lot about fifes and whistles, and he is a fair hand at playing both.
By the way, it is hard to say which of us is most offended by the baseless rumor that he is my much better looking (and much) younger brother.
