The Un-YouTube

There are lots of other great sites/sights to see on the web other than YouTube, and rather than clutter up the existing YT thread, I thought it might be easier to manage a separate thread of non-YouTube treats.

So here’s a neat one to start out with (Jerome Murat):

Cool. But it can’t beat the lovely recordings (on CD) of the Glenn Gould edition of Johann Sebastian Bach’s Well Tempered Clavier, books I & II, that a nice Canadian fella named Dave sent me for X-Mas… I am thoroughly enjoying it now, even as I type this… peaceful… relaxing… exquisitely beautiful… ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh…

(Cynth..i hope this answers your question  )

Very funny… and illustrative of the male ‘mind’ through the centuries, and the women who love to (ahem) ‘entertain’ them.

Some would call ‘male mind’ an oxymoron.

Magic anyone?

I thought the opposite of ‘you’ in this context was ‘non-you.’ Or should that be U and non-U?

The reference was styled after 7up’s Un-Cola ad campaign.

djm

Can you explain that a bit further and date it?

Nope, only to say that 7UP was not a cola-type soft drink (ergo uncola). 7UP has been the Uncola for a long time now. I suppose you could look it up on the web if you were so inclined.

You know it’s an old can when the ‘pop-top’ is detachable. 70’s?

In the mid 60s, activities divided into the U and the non-U for a while. (Hence my original joke) I’ve forgotten what U stood for. It’s not just an Australian thing. Someone from England will know.

My mom’s boss (of 43 years!) and his company designed the machinery to manufacture that pop-top!

Hi Wombat

Upper and non upper class is the meaning.

That’s funny. It seems us mountain folk would fall into the "U"s, since around here, more of the U words are common than the non-U.

But you’ll not find that class stuff around these parts. It’s more like you’re a “furriner” or a “durn furriner”, unless your family’s been livin’ here since time outa mind.

Moved to youtube thread.
