Never the twain will meet.

I often wonder what would happen if a certain singer or instrumentalist would have recorded a certain song or tune but, for various reasons, never did.

I can imagine the breathtaking version of “Dancing Queen” that Art Garfunkel could have given us. That great voice soaring above the incredible melody and wistful lyric.
Imagine the gut wrenching soulfulness that Nina Simone would have brought to Tom Waits “Grapefruit Moon”.

As for Charlie Parker and the Kesh Jig…well…

Slan,
D.

… unless there’s another twain on the same twack. :boggle:

Rim shot!!!

How about Roger Whitaker’s splendid rendition of “Sheena is a Punk Rocker”?

Perry Como’s version of Aqualung.

Sid Viscious and White Christmas.

Andrea Bocelli singing “Within You/Without You”.

Elmer Fudd singing “Funkytown”.

Or the other way around.

He DID do “My Way”!

Mark

 I must hear it some time.

You are a sadistic little man.

Clearly the Cheiftains have wondered the same thing over too many years and have subjected us to the, IMHO, usually awful outcome of pop star meets traditional Irish :boggle:

Cheers,
David

P.S…though I have to confess Sting wasn’t half bad doing “Gile Mear”

P.P.S. I’ve been gone too long. What happened to the bloody  emoticon

I’ve always said that Michael Jackson should record a version of Cheeseburger In Paradise.

People have been bringing that to my attention of late.

Johnny Cash sinning “hurt” and Metallica singing “whiskey in the jar” should give you hope.

Sinning “Hurt”?

Actually sometimes the twain do meet, very unfortunately:

William shatner singing “rocket-man”!

William Shatner singing anything… (shudder)

And he covered Blurs “common people” too!

Oh, g’wan, Dub, you have enough cred on the board that you could have gone ahead and included the A-word. It wouldn’t have done permanent harm to your reputation for superb taste… :stuck_out_tongue:

Her first few days in the 1K lounge and the beer goes to her head.

I have said it here before and no doubt I will say it again…ABBA were a great pop band who wrote some of the best pop music of all time. They never tried to cure the worlds problems or feed the starving masses, just made great pop music.

“Dancing Queen” is probably my favourite pop song of all time.

So there :stuck_out_tongue:

Slan,
D.

It is well worth the listen

Beer? That was beer? Sheesh. They told me the Lounge had snarfed up all the beer long ago… thought it was just root beer in that chipped C&F mug. Tasted funny, though, and I was wondering why I had such a headache…
