Songs you hate to love- your secret shame

What are the tunes that you secretly love- but are ashamed to admit that you really love them?

I reluctantly confess the following-

McArthur Park- heck, I’ve got the music and can play the thing on piano
How sad is that?

Time Passages. I think I must be one of only a handful of pitiful souls who really and truly love this tune.

Allright, you folks out there…time to 'fess up!

I LOVE THE SPICE GIRLS!!!

Every song.

When I listen to them it takes me back to my childhood…

back? :astonished:

Well, it’s not just one song, and I’m not really ashamed of it (though it does get me laughed at from time to time)… I’m a fan of John Denver’s music.

Yeah? Well me too!
Aye Calypso!

Now who could laugh about someone liking John Denver?

Marche Slav
Mac Arthur Park
Wichita Lineman

Emm too, eh!

I just gotta step outside for a minute…

Oh, and I like Danny Boy.

I love Wichita Lineman. Especially the Bass. He’s got that in Galveston too.
Ok, and I also like Johnny Cash.

The Donna Summer or the Dumbledore version?

Ok, ok, and since you made me say this:
I play a whistle riff from Titanic. It impresses people who don’t know they’re supposed to be disdainful.

I too like “Danny Boy”.

I also like Meatloaf. “Bat Out of Hell” is wonderful. What’s worse is that a few years ago the guy who produced his best work also produced several Celine Dion albums and I love them.

By the way - “album”? When did “albums” end. LPs are gone but the jargon lingers. We saw Danu last week (great show, but no bodhran) and they referred to their latest “album” and their new “record”. I’m not sure they’re old enough to have bought “albums” or “records”.

Well, technically they’re still “albums,” even though they’re no longer on vinyl. An album is a collection of works, so there’s no reason you can’t have an album on tape, CD or DVD.

Nobody will believe this, but I really, truly do enjoy the “It’s a Small World” song. Yes, I actually puddle up when I ride the “Small World” ride at Disneyland. “When You Wish Upon a Star” will usually get me going too.

Redwolf

Yes. I am an adult.

(Sometimes…)

Hrmmp… I managed to put it off until well into my 30s.
None of the relapses lasted more than a decade…or so.

Try harder, adulthood is vastly overrated.
Or, childhood is hard to get back!

I have always been one of those kids who was “12, going on 40” anyway. I’ve never really thought like a young person (until lately, actually), even when I was one. It’s a blessing and a curse all in one…

Count me among the John Denver fans too! :stuck_out_tongue:
Also James Taylor, Dan Fogelberg and Gordon Lightfoot… though I am reluctant to admit it publicly.
As for a particular song that I hate to love, that would be Fiona Apple’s cover of ‘Across The Universe’.
Nothing’s gonna change my world…

I like John Denver, too.

Growing old is mandatory, but growing up is optional!

emmline- the version I have is the (I suppose) TRAD version, from the 60s - ala Richard Harris. Hmmmmmm, does that make it better or worse?
 nah, nothing is worse than any disco version of anything…

ah…Dumbledore!

Dumbledore?

I did google it and it’s a Harry Potter character I guess. What’s the connection?

( just can’t get into those books)
