Never the twain will meet.

Willie just played here a couple of weeks ago. I didn’t go (can’t stand C&W) but those who did said he had to talk his way through most of his songs. The old throat is mostly gone.

You were probably a big Archies fan, too. I can’t tolerate ABBA. About the closest I could ever get to that kind of stuff was Heart doing Dreamboat Annie.

Its interesting to me that when Pat Boone turned over his heavy metal leaf that he didn’t attempt any Frank Zappa; nothing too heavy, maybe Zombie Wooff or something easy like that.

Great idea. I can totally see Pat Boone doing “Baby Snakes”.

But then I have to go have a lie down…

I wanted to see Liberace (RIP) do Zappa’s Catholic Schoolgirls.

How about Mel Tormé singing “Physical”?

Or The Ramones and “The Wheels on the Bus Go 'Round and 'Round”?

Or Bowie doing “Oh, Holy Night” Pinups-style.

I’ve always wanted an American Idol contestant to do a Talking Heads song.

Okay, how are we supposed to tell you and Dale apart now that you both have the same avatars? :really:

I dunno. Ask ctilbury, he did it first. I’m just following suit.

There are THREE of you? :boggle:

Bruce Sringsteen - I’m a lonely little Petunia

George Bush - Hit me with your rhythm stick, Hit me Hit me

Tony Blair - Its my party and I’ll cry if I want to

Tony Blair - If you wanna be happy for the rest of your life

Bob Geldof - I want money (thats what I want)

Hmmm. From what I hear I doubt whether you could have got the owld candelabra man interested in schoolgirls - not even raunchy Catholic ones (of the kind I consorted happily with meself in my misspent youth).

Exactly.

I have a lovely version of “Yesterday”..James Taylor ..live.

Mmmm..what a right hand.

Slan,
D.

No wonder he went bald!

  1. The Flaming Lips have covered Kylie Minogueologuyehe ‘s (how do you spell that) "I Just Can’t Get You Out of My Head.’

  2. When I was a teenager, 2 friends of mine and I briefly had a garage band . I could do a decent Johnny Cash impression. So, the whole premise was Johnny Cash covers Black Sabbath. (“What is this that stands before me?” “Hello, I am IRON MAN!”) It was good fun. But then, years later, Cash, of course, did so some unlikely covers, most notably the afore-mentioned “Hurt.” That recording is WONDERFUL and the video is, as I have proclaimed before, the finest music video ever created.

My personal favorites are Ethel Merman sings the “sounds of silence” and You can’t always get what you wa..ant, you get whatcha need…"

I’ve done it on bike rides and everyone stops pedaling and shakes there collective heads…

HELLO darkness, My old friend…
