The Level Plain

Does anyone know what kind of whistle Joanie Madden plays on The Level Plain from her Song of the Irish Whistle cd? Also, is there sheet music available for this piece?
Thanks for your help!

I think I remember that being an O’Riordan Low A.

A Google search keeps turning up dots for a reel aka Greig’s Pipes which sounds nothing like what you hear Joanie (or Eileeen Ivers) play. I’m working on learning it by ear from the records. What I hear Joanie play is a low G, probably an O’Riordan or Burke. A really nice tune, but some of the improvs on both ladies albums border on a bit much of a non-trad muchness.

Thanks Dale and Ned!
I guess I’ll have to start looking at low whistles now

Here’s an interview with Joanie from C&F that will help:

It’s probably a safe assumption to say it was an O’Riordan Low G unless you hear otherwise.

I saw here around the time that came out and she was using O’Riordens at the time…simply beautiful whistles too.
