Hello again everyone! I’ve been chasing myself around in circles lately and haven’t been here to post. 
It’s great to be back.
My question is this: Can someone please tell me what key Joanie’s song “Marcus Hernon’s Air” from “A Whistle on The Wind” is played in? I’ve been trying but just can’t seem to nail it down. 
Perhaps it’s a flute instead of a whistle?
That recording has special meaning for me which I will not go into here.
It plays equally well on a low D whistle or a flute - starts on the second octave “e”. That’s my recollection. I haven’t played along with the recording in a few years. But I play the tune frequently. I’ll get out the CD and check.
Yep, the melody is played on a low D whistle.

I love that tune, and recorded my own version of it a few years ago.
Unfortunately I lost the piano and cello scores to a hard drive crash, so I can’t be much help to you other than to confirm that it is in the key of D.
Thankfully the recording itself survived the hard drive crash, and it’s posted on my ACIDplanet page if you’d like to have a listen.
It sounded best to me on a low F, back when I had one.
Thanks for the replies. I had figured perhaps a low D would do it but I just couldn’t get started properly.
The sheet music link was kind, thank you but a bit too advanced for my limited music reading abilities. The 1/4 note followed by 96 above the clef lost me from the gate.

It’s a beautiful air with (to me) an almost haunting quality.
