Testing the waters (drool) for a trade

Hi all.
I have been smitten by the Bb flute bug and am considering putting up for trade my Rudall & Rose (#4117). I’m looking for a keyed Bb flute equal in value. This R&R is a beautiful instrument. It has been well loved and played, and is in excellent playing condition. It has the double Bb touch and comes with a Owell HJ which I had Patrick make to adjust the pitch of the instrument so that I wouldn’t have to pull the hj out so far. The flute is not without repaired cracks. It was worked on by Nina Shorey last summer. In her words, " somebody must have really love this flute (and played the s__t out of it!"). Please email me if your are interested. I’m not in a rush to get rid of it, but if the right Bb presents itself, well…

Thanks for your consideration,
Arbo

Arbo,

Aren’t you coming down to Augusta this summer? If you do, track down John Gallagher (his studio’s in Elkins, and he’ll be around). That’s how I wound up with mine, and it’s a fine, fine flute indeed. There are ways to make one cheaper than mine (no rings, something other than blackwood, etc.) and he’ll work with you on those, but as far as design it’s an absolutely fabulous flute and worth every penny. (It’s already earned back a third of its purchase price in gigs!)
