It’s a wonderful flute, is nicely balanced and plays easily in tune. It has been especially cool having the Eb key. It has been well cared for, oiled and humidified.
I wish I could describe it better, but I’m still a fledgling player. I’m letting it go only because my musical priorities have shifted significantly in '08, and I now have other, more pressing needs.
The flute new was $870. I’d like to ask $780, with insured shipping included for the lower forty-eight.
I would be amenable to a trade for a comparably valued open-back banjo along the lines of Reiter or Ramsey. As I mentioned previously, my musical needs have changed.
Look, I certainly mean no disrespect to the maker.
But musicians’ needs change.
And I wasn’t looking to compare the Cochran to a brand new Reiter. I’ve seen high quality used open back (five-string) banjos out there in the $700-$800 range. That’s seems to me to be in the general vicinity of $870, which was the original price of the Cochran.
I was just trying to avoid someone offering a Harmony or some such.
i think jon was kidding. as if, “his flute was so bad it made you want to play banjo.” jon watches too much south park, it makes him overly sarcastic .
