FS: R&R (#4117)

Is is with great sadness that I am putting up for sale my R&R (#4117). This IS a great flute. Recently overhauled by Jon C.
It has the double touch Bb key, and a silver lip plate (partial).
I also have an Owell hj that was fitted especially for this flute. PM if you wish pics and sound clips. You may contact Jon C. for a second opinion on the flute (he loved it!).

EDIT

It has been suggested that I add a couple bits of information here. The flute is a medium-holed R&R. It plays at A=440 with the original hj pulled out about 5/8th ", less so with the Olwell hj. I am asking $4500.00 for the flute, less the Olwell hj, but may be willing to negotiate. The flute has had several repairs. The repairs are holding, and have done so for many years (6+ to my reckoning). It is a loud flute with a great bottom ‘D’. Definitely can be heard in a session. Were I not strapped for cash there is no way I would part with this flute. I do have a comparable Pratten that I also play, so I am not ‘fluteless.’

I can vouch for this flute - it’s a beauty! - sorry you feel you need to sell it, Arbo. If I had the money, I’d buy it in a heartbeat.

Thanks, Gordon.

I have the Pratten which makes it hurt a little less.

I’m glad you’ve held onto that Pratten, Arbo…
so many tell me of their visits with it…and I remember my time with it.

you will never regret holding onto it.

Though another Hudson-Pratten has surfaced in the world…bringing the grant total now to … 7 !

far fewer than the 400+ Rudalls thus far located.

I’m sure your Rudall will find a happy and worthy home.

David;

is your excellent R&R catalogue project still in existence? I looked for it recently but I didn’t find an up-to-date website for it any more

Mike M.

Oh, Arbo. I’m so sorry – that is a great flute. Dang. I hate the economy.

I’m glad you’re able to hang on to at least one of the pair. They’re terrific!

Well, if I can’t find an appreciative home for the flute I suppose I can always take out a loan from my pension fund for house repairs (which is what is forcing me to do this!). I still have the Pratten and the Hawkes and Son which I am trading to Martin Doyle for a Boxwood Bb (he is currently in the process of retooling for the Bb). Oh, and there’s always the Nach-Meyer that I have butchered over the years…
Arbo

yes, Mike, the work is still ongoing…but I’m awaiting a new server in September. All updated super-duper type stuff!

Problem with the old one is it could not handle all the JPEGs necessary to have a nice catalogue.

the new one will. Along with a few other bells/whistles that will make it a very nice resource.

Part of the reason I took the other down was that some of the photos were being hijacked for nefarious purposes. You can well imagine some of them. So I felt an obligation to protect the interests of everyone who had a flute on the site.

so stay tuned!

sorry to hear you have to part with your flute!

taking out a loan to keep a flute you already have is no fun, either.

Having just ended a year-plus of being unemployed I know about that :sniffle: Thank the FSM for good flutes and the good souls who bought a couple of mine!

Good luck Arbo and perhaps you can negotiate some better prices on repairs, the market being what it is.

Thanks. I have an offer here, though I’m thinking about tapping into the European market. Might be a better deal for someone overseas.
Arbo.

Arbo, I second the condolences on having to part with such a treasure, and am also glad you still have a good flute to play. I hope you get a good price!

David, I’m glad to hear there is progress on the Catalogue re-jigging! I have a couple of additions to send you info on when I get around to typing up the gen on them - a(nother) Wylde and a late RC cylindrical 8-key - could be one of the last they made.

Arbo was very good about sending pics and clips to help evaluate the flute. Beautiful tone. Jon C was very helpful when I contacted him. You should think about this flute! Your very own Rudall and Rose…

Your enabler,
Hugh
