Yes the serial number is correct - it is quite an early model (1831?). I am selling this flute to part-fund a private surgical operation.
PM me and I will send you a Word document with a full description and I can also send some good-quality photos. There is a recent clip (.WAV file) of me playing it at http://www.box.net/files#/files/0/f/72783925/R&R1364 Please don’t judge my playing too harshly!
N.B. original case or paperwork not included. I am happy to supply a modern case.
If any potential buyer wants to try it out or to collect it in person, I live in Suffolk, UK. I am also in the BT phone book
BTW, I am paranoid about shipping via air-freight, due to a bad experience with a pristine Hawkes flute which cracked up.
That link’s only going to work for you on your own account, when you’re logged in to it. Go to the Folder on your Box.net account where you have the file and you should find a link you can give out to SHARE access publicly.
Yeah, very Nicholsonian, and sounds great too on your clip!
I agree, you’re under-selling it price-wise! Of course, in the circumstances you mention you may need a guaranteed quick sale rather than optimising the price achieved. Someone ought to snap this up!
He did try to sell it for more and we discussed this flute before. It was on ebay for a while I think. Beautiful looking and I hope for a quick sale for you and good luck.
ok, there are 4 potential buyers so far- one in the USA and 3 in Europe (alas, none in the UK). None has made an offer so far, so here’s what I’ll do:- the one who makes the best offer (on a sealed bid basis) by 8 p.m. Sunday (UK time) gets it. Assuming I get any offers at all, I’ll publish the final sale price here (without the buyer’s name), as I am sure lots of people are interested to know what the flute finally fetches.
yes, Kenny it’s me. Beard and glasses. We met many times at Milltown and Mullagh and played many sessions together. I started going to Drumshanbo instead, as it’s nicer, IMO. But now I am awaiting open-heart surgery so haven’t got the energy to go anywhere until I get fixed up
BTW, I will let it go to the 1st person who offers the asking price, I decided. If no-one offers the asking price, then it goes to the person who makes the best offer by 8p.m. Sunday
the flute finally went for £2100. I thought you folks might like to know. I have a nice 19th c. cocus flute by Z.T. Purday (with a modern head by John Wicks) in A440 that I will be selling as soon as I get the chance to measure its sounding length and post some pictures and an audio clip.
