FT: ArHPa ebony Rudall

Hello,
I am looking to trade, would rather trade than sell. I have a ArHPa Rudall in ebony, with slide and silver rings.
It has the long vented foot. It is very nice, but looking for something new to play.
I would be interested in anything really, just as long as it is wooden, I have a wonderful Jon C. large hole Rudall in delrin, nothing else in delrin is desired.
I will try to get some pics up. Also, I received this in a trade from SillyDill, so he is also familiar with it.

If anyone is interested please pm me or email at piperman at gmail dot com

Cheers,
Steve

sorry, I don’t know what ArHPa stands for. Don

http://www.arhpa.com/

o.k. THANKS. are there any reviews or discussions about these? I’ve experience with Burns, Mcgee,Tipple,Grinter, Seery. Where do these fit in? Don

I haven’t seen any reviews, and this one is a Rudall, most of his are Pratten type flutes, this has nice larger holes, so it can project nicely, buy still has a Rudall type sound and the hole spacing is no worse than any other Rudall type flute.

Cheers,
Steve

I thought ArHPa were the folks that created the internet tubes.

:astonished: :pint:

I originally didn’t intend to let this flute go. :astonished:

I just loaned it to Piperman and it never came back to roost.

If I had any trade fodder Piperman was interested in, you would not be getting this oppertunity!

It has a wonderful tone and very good intonation. Plus it’s fairly easy to play. What more do you want? :poke:

Here’s a link to a tune on this flute, Boys of the Town: Box Though I wish I could play as well, this recording was made by Sylvester.

And here’s a picture (though not very good).

:smiling_imp: Don’t trade for this flute. Then Piperman will have to sell/trade it to me! :really:

questions:

Is the embouchure hole circular?
What’s it lined with? There seems to be
a circle of something around it.

How much is one of these new, roughly? I’m having
trouble navigating the site.

Thanks

That is one funky website with some nice soundclips. A new flute retails at Euro 573.91, but that is for the Pratten style. It doesn’t look like they do a Rudall style any longer.

Hey Jim,

Is it tacky to quote myself?

The following is excerpted from this thread: https://forums.chiffandfipple.com/t/embouchure-cuts/45959/19

Here is a picture of the embouchure hole on my ARHPA flute:

This particular flute was a prototype. I presume the embouchure insert was done to evaluate different embouchure types. It is actually a perfect circle and is not glued into place (I can move it slightly with finger pressure). It is of an improved ellipse shape (not ARHPA’s modern squarish shape).

I’ve wondered if the relative smoothness and hardness of this material contributes to the tonal qualities of the flute. Nicholson preferred ivory lined embouchures on his flutes.

Would also accept a Boxwood Folk flute, or any other boxwood flute similar.

I do have a few offers, so it won’t be here long.

Cheers,
Steve
