I currently have a Casey Burns Ergonomic Standard flute in Rosewood that I would like to sell. New these are $625 ($450 in Mopane) and they are no longer offered in Rosewood. I had an old Casey Burns Rudall model that was about 15 years old and it had his current style of contours over the head socket, this flute’s are different so I’ll guess this one is older.
I really like the tone of this flute, I prefer it’s tone to the Casey Burns Folk flute I had (I believe this is due to the Rosewood). The finger spacing is very short and comfortable (the span between the 5th and 6th finger holes is only about 1 ¼ inches).
For the all-round playing: Casey Burns Ergonomic Standard
Casey’s own design is extrapolated from a Pratten, but combines their powerful open sound with the greater “manageability” of Rudall-derived flutes. Favored by players who are want an versatile instrument and are not overly-attached to one of historical models (Rudall or Pratten). Casey has noted some similarities of measurements and tonal behavior to flutes by Prowse.
Here is a picture of the flute, there is an old crack that was repaired (Yellow <<<). This repair has remained stable ever since.
Boy, this is one heck of a deal for someone. I have one of these flutes in Blackwood that I have for sale and there is no way I would sell it for this kind of money. If you want a good flute at a good price take a good look at this one. If I hadn’t just bought a Hammy from Doc Jones, I’d be after this one just to have to pass on to a friend.
I have no financial interest in this flute but just want others to know that these are good flutes.
I haven’t figured out if the flute is assertive or calls me to be assertive but boy it sure is a nice feeling when it all comes together with the Hammy.
