reel identification please?

Hey ho;
I’m trying to identify a couple of reels, apologies for the very rudimentary ABC below, I never learned that language . . .

  1. dB | ADF#A BC#dB | ADF#A BGEB | ADF#A BCdf# | eACe d
    possibly Callan Lasses??

  2. AAGA CA3A | df#ed CA3A
    I bet a few start this way, I’d be happy to have the names of any that seem likely, I can match up the sheet music more easily.

  3. edCB Cdef# | gedB ACBA
    this one is a tune fragment . . .

I’ve tried the Session website tune finder, it allows you to enter bits of ABC, and it actually worked, but I only found one out of four.
Any help much appreciated!

Bingo! We have our first match. Yup, based on that hint I was able to match the tune up with the recording I have. Thanks very much.

It might help if you told people what you were listening to, just in case they have a listing of that recording.

Flags of Dublin would be the first one. Last one would be somewhere in the Rainy Day family but can’t put my finger on exactly which tune right now.

These are live recordings I’ve made at workshops and concerts over the years; I’m telling you everything I know about them when I give you the musical notes . . . but they are not from commercial recordings, so no liner notes to help us.

Getting great help so far! As I suspected, some board members with a bit more experience than I can snatch a tune name out of the air after “hearing” two bars of it.

You can Google for a few bars of ABC and get better results than just from the Session. You don’t need to specify F# or C#, also. I always throw in the type of tune as well.
Googling for this:

“edCB Cdef” reel

gives Garrett Barry’s (reel) and something called The New Porch Swing (reel), which I see was written by a friend of mine. Haven’t heard Garret Barry’s reel on any newish piping recordings but it was recorded in the 70’s by Pat Mitchell. These suggestions are from the Session - leave out those # symbols, they’re not called for!
I hummed your fragment but never recognized it as Garret Barry’s, which I’d guess it is. Didn’t recognize it since it’s in the middle of the parts. I’m very sluggish with ABC and use a program to translate it into dots and lines. Should practice it more I guess.

Meant to thank you Peter, you were right on with both of these. Now, just for future reference, what other tunes are in the “rainy day family”? Are they just variations? I have an LP with Ennis playing it, which was very close to my recording.
