On Michael Cooney’s “A Stone’s Throw” album, track 7, in the middle of the set Michael plays a tune which he calls “The Commons”. I could not find any ABC for this tune on Fiddler’s Companion or the Session dot org, I was wondering if perhaps it is known by another name? If anyone has ABC for this tune, or at least a version very similar to how Michael plays the tune I would love to have it. He plays the entire set on what I think are B pipes, and I don’t have B pipes or a trusty B whistle to play along with.

Are they polkas? I don’t have “A Stone’s Throw” here at the office, but he plays a set called “The Commons Polkas” on his new “Just Piping” recording (all of which seems to be played on a D set) and he takes it at a lovely learnable pace if that helps. There’s a clip here:

I looked on JC’s didn’t see anything there as far as ABCs go, but listen to/buy the clip above and if you get stuck let me know which one in the set you’re looking for – I have the second and third polkas and can write out a rough transcription fairly quickly when I can get to a tinwhistle (not OK at the office - no fun 
).
I didn’t listen to the clip, but the tune I am referring to is a reel played in a set of 3 reels. Easter Sunday, The Commons, The Milliners’s Daughter. And they are played on B pipes I am sure, that or Bb, but I think B.

Well, I unearthed the CD jewel case … now to find the disc. 
But I’m on the case! That first Paddy O’Brien (RIP) tune is one of my favorites.
