Another Tune Search

I’m trying to learn a couple of reels from the first Gerry Harrington, Eoghan O’Sullivan album “Sceal Eile”. Does anyone know of another recording of the first set of reels (Seanbheana Na gCartai/Tom Billy’s) that is perhaps in D and not in E flat? There usually played together in Sliabh Luachra sessions but there are some things that I’m just not able to pick up when Gerry and Eoghan are playing in a weird key.

Thanks for any help,

Mark

Oops! Nevermind. The Amazing Slow Downer saves the day again. I forgot I could change the pitch.

Coincidence - I was listening to that recording 2 days ago. I think the tunes are more commonly known as “The Banks Of The Illen” and the “Humours Of Scartaglen”. You’ll get the dots at the “Session”.
There’s a recording called “River Reel” which has them both played by Breandan Begley, Kevin Glackin and Mick O’Brien. There were several copies of it on ebay last week, and it’s quite cheap. A great recording, but odd in that it doesn’t mention anywhere who the musicians are. I think it’s in concert pitch, but would have to check.

Thanks Kenny, I’ll check that album out.
