I have been struggling lately to play the tune “Faubert’s Lilt” as I have heard it played by Seamus Egan. I have tried to pick it up by ear, and now all I have is a stretched ear. I need the music!!! HeeellllP! 
Hope that was not too loud. I have tried a number of sources to find any music without success. Does anyone have any ideas where I can find it?

NOT an easy tune, nor is Seamus an easy player to learn tunes off of. If you are able to learn the tune off his playing you will end up with a superb ear.
Try JC’s abc tunefinder to find the dots.

That’s one of my favorite tunes to listen to. Let us know if you ever find a good transcription, I couldn’t find one when I searched a couple of years ago.

I sorta figured that finding the tune would be difficult. I also could not find any references of other performers who played the piece, which might have made it easier to find written music.
I guess I will continue to try to learn as much of it by ear as I can, but as you know, it plays a lot more complex than it could or would be written anyway.

Have you tried using one of the programmes that let you to slow tunes down while still keeping pitch, such as “The Amazing Slow Downer” I find it really useful as I can’t read music properly.

Rama, the tune is on “juniper Sleeps”, one of his solo albums.
Mac, I use Winamp with the Pacemaker add-on. It works very well, except that on this tune Seamus uses a lot of jumps between octaves, and some pretty strong embouchure-work to really work the flute over. As usual, he uses a lot of ornamentation on this one. Where the music would come in handy is to get clues as to what he is doing where. I am aware that nothing, but nothing, can do anything for my embouchure. I will have to settle for a tune that hits most of the notes, and hope for some serious magic to sound even remotely decent. He modulates his notes all over the place, and the flute responds amazingly, sounding like anything but a flute.
Where would one get “The Amazing Slow Downer” or “Pacemaker”? I use winamp as well, but would REALLY like to be able to slow tunes down.
Also is there something that automatically transposes?

Pacemaker can be found at its website, the name of which escapes me at this moment. Do a search for the words pacemaker and Winamp together, and you will go right to it. Just searching pacemaker can lead you in many interesting directions, not necessarily productive.
The shortcoming with pacemaker, to me, is that when you slow the notes down, you tend to get fuzzy results. Slow it down 10-15 percent, and you get a nice outcome. If you really slow it down, there seems to be a lot of junk in the sound. But, if you want to learn tunes (except Faubert’s Lilt), it is an excellent tool. Free, too.
oops, forgot to add that with pacemaker you can change the key, also.
I find that Transcribe! does a better job slowing down the tunes than pacemaker, but that may be a personal preference.

I like the ability to select a region with the mouse and loop over it until I get it.
I will download it and try it out. Pacemaker doesn’t have a way to loop or to repeat small parts of a tune. Always on the lookout for ways to improve.
I just downloaded transcribe. This thing gives much better fidelity than Winamp + Pacemaker. I slowed down Faubert’s Lilt to 55%, and can hear things that I never expected to . (Still can’t play them, though.) It looks like a great tool to modify tunes with.
