Heya, I upload four files on my server. Those are tunes I’m desperate to find the titles for… not desperate enough to try to notate them and use the search site based on the notes. Also, these tunes are a good example of how not to play irish music. I didnt care for the phrasing, and played too fast to make sure files werent going to be too big.
Set 1, no. 2 - “Dublin reel” (G version - there is a distinct 3-part version in D that as you know I am forever playing)
Set 2, no. 1 is played by Matt Molloy on the Molloy/Peoples/Brady album, where he calls it “Mick Finn’s”. Norbeck gives also “The Killavil Reel” and “Cill Abhaill” (evidently the Irish sp. of Killavil). Not to be confused with that splendid old reel “The Killavil Fancy”.
Set 3 is “Sean sa Ceo”
Set 4 - I’ve played the first one for donkey’s years without knowing its name. I think it sounds better on the whistle in G. Goes high though! Most fiddle players however except Tommy Peoples) like to play it in D so that they can stay in the first position.
H. Norbeck’s site gives “Mulqueen’s” as the title for the D version - I think that’s what De Dannan called it when they recorded it decades ago. And “Spindle Shanks” as the title for the G version. Although M. Molloy recorded and the Chieftains recorded a totally diff. tune called “The Spindle Shank reel”.

Thanks Stephen, that’s very useful info. By the way, do you know the Killavil jig? It’s in Em I think, very good jig, and very simple.
You are a riot, Az. Or were you drunk for the entire day on June 8?
Do you mean that we “learned” Killavil on june 8th? Hmmmmm, well, I will say that I was just back from a perilous trip in Ireland, and my mind wasnt where it was supposed to be! Limerick left some brain damage on me…
