Excellent piping here. Does anyone know who made the set that Neillidh plays for his set of hornpipes?

Yoann

The flat set was made by Alain Froment.
The concert set was made by John Brogan (1878 - 1928). The chanter was made by Kevin Thompson.

Tommy

I transcribed quite a few tunes from private recordings played by Neillidh, and they are published in the book by Dr. Lewis Blevins, “Tea in Connemara.”
He’s a great player and it was a honour to do so.

Search for the book on Amazon.com

I don’t think so, pretty certain that’s a Wooff B set. He’s been playing it a lot lately.

Per Neillidh’s liner notes, that B set is a Froment, unless he’s changed over.

Nice one. Could’ve done with a solo set from Conor McKeon (the other piper with the boxwood Ó Bríain set didn’t seem half bad either), but good stuff all the same.

He has, IIRC.

Excellent, maybe I’ll make him an offer for the Froment! As soon as I sell my car. And my house.

Ye, who was that piper with the Cillian Boxwood set…he did sound very good alright.

His name is Eoghan Garvey. He was in my class at Willie Week years ago, very nice guy. He’s the son of legendary singer Sean Garvey.

Pat.

Whats the name of the last tune in the first set???
Rob

The Green Fields of America. Descended from the reel of the same name.

thanks, recognised it but didnt remember the name. I have it on D. Spillanes cd forgotten days.
Rob

It’s rare that I’d disagree with you Bill, but that doesn’t look like any Wooff set I’ve seen. The chanter looks very like Froment’s work. The mounts are typical of his sets. The chanter top certainly doesn’t have the slender Wooff look to it and it has white mounts, which I’ve never seen on a Wooff chanter top.

for sure they are
Alan Froment in B for solo hornpipes
John Brogan set with K Thompson Chanter for duet in D.

Well, pipers and pipemakers. But - holy Christ - TITS on the Bousuki player´s T-shirt :swear:
