have a look at tonight’s siar an bothar on TG4 - Mick O’Brien from 1977
2 nice clips - 1977 and 1989. In the 1977 clip he looks like he’s playing a Rowsome set. Is it his Wille Rowsome set? He certainly seems to be pumping the bellows quite a bit - maybe a leak somewhere ![]()
Arrgh, I keep missing these! Does anyone know how to get the stuff to play, or if they have an archive to view previous shows? I can’t figure out how to get their webTV function to work. It loads and plays for a bit and then the page blanks over to the old “page/server not found”
Never mind, got it to work with a different browser. The second clip, from 1989, is the Willie Rowsome set. I have no idea who the first one is by, looks different to me.

Both sets are the Rowsome set, kind of. Same chanter and regulators.
The earlier set had a different chanter top and drones by John Clarke. He has Leo Rowsome bellows too.
Mick played this set for years untill Froment restored the Rowsome drones. The chanter top in the later clip isn’t original either, it was made by Alain Froment too.
Tommy
Nice work anyhow…it looked like a wholly different set in the first! The set is much nicer with the sum of its parts intact. The new chanter top is nice too!
Link goes to a good soccer game, but no pipes ![]()
