Ceird an cheoil - uilleann pipes???

There is a programme on TG4 which profiles different instruments used in traditional music. So far it has profiled pianos, accordions and bouzukis. Does anyone know if the uilleann pipes will be profiled? If so, when and what makers are involved?

There was a Leargas programme made a few years ago by TG4 which featured Geoff Wooff making the pipes. The Potts’s and McKeon’s were also on it… have to dig that one out again, nice programme. Also more recently Caoimhin O’ Raghallaigh had a show dedictated to his many and peculiar talents including the making of these uilleann pipes.

When Ceird an Cheoil was about uilleann pipes my TG4 picture in Belfast was very bad. A few weeks later the TG4 aerial was installed on Black Mountain in Belfast so I got great reception.

Now a few months now in 2007 Virgin media (NTL) got the rights to view TG4 on cable TV in Belfast

TG4 still havn’t repeated Ceird an Cheoil about uilleann pipes.

The Ceird an Cheoil programme last night Sunday 22 April 2007 was about Uilleann Pipes.

This progamme was made in 2005 and was TG4 before.

Peter Laban posted this on Saturday 26 February 2005

The piping documentary around Caoimhin O Raghallaig and Geoff Wooff will be on TG4 on sundaynight 10 o clock. As far as I remember from the stories when they were doing it Ronan Browne, Geoff and Sean Talty ended up playing the three Harrintons (though obviously not together) for it (and got pissed after). Should be good stuff.

It is not on www.tg4.tv yet.

It’s usually posted on the Tuesday following the broadcast.

IMPORTANT NOTE: TG4 only keeps these programmes on its website for 30 days after the broadcast so anyone interested better not wait too long.
