The set of pipes that guy is playing Banish Misfortune on have such an awesome sound to them. I have never heard a set with that particular richness.

Thanks for posting!

Nice one Patrick

There is another series running on BBC Alba and TG4 called Port that has some piping in it, the second episode - Dublin, has Paddy Keenan amongst others.

That’s Peter Browne playing a lovely version of Banish Misfortune. He’s playing an Andreas Rogge D set here with another chanter, possibly Koehler??? Last year (or was it even the year before!) he received a beautiful Koehler & Quinn D full set in the Taylor style.

Looks like the Port show is playing on TG4 also… but it won’t play. It has border restrictions on the BBC Alba website too. FECK! Maybe YouTube? Nope… they only have adverts for the show on the TG4 channel. Ah well, typical pain in the hole :-/

The 1968 gathering of pipers that brought the uilleann pipes back from the point of extinction.

And now look at the mess you’ve all created by interfering with evolution.

One word, Pat: Proxies.

Thanks for the info Patrick. Is there any relation between Peter Browne and Ronan Browne?

If that’s a Kohler Quinn chanter, I can see what all the fuss is about!

Ronan & Peter are cousins.

To contradict myself, as is my wont, the chanter itself looks older. The top and particularly the long stop key are features Benedict has employed in his own pipemaking so that was where my hunch erupted from.

Anyone in Ireland care to chime in? Tommy Martin, Peter Browne yourself?
