Ronan is playing a Peter Hunter chanter and a Johnny Bourke body.
Well, when I say a Peter Hunter chanter, Ronan made it with Peter. Ronan turned and reamed the wood with Peters guidance and measurements.

I just got an email from Ronan who reminded me that he made the whole concert set in that video clip, and nice work too!
Here’s what he wrote,
(The) pipes were not made by Johnny but also by me in the mid 90s.
I had ordered a set from Johnny in 1989 and he died before he could make them. The only parts of Johnny in that set are the metal H section at the end of the bass slide, plus one of the bends on the first section of the bass!
You know Martin Doyle who makes those lovely flutes? He gave me full access to his workshop and made & designed tools, bits and cutters whenever they were needed. He was a great teacher and a great time was had.
Wonderful feeling of satisfaction now when playing, knowing I made the instrument…
