My Sindts have arrived ! : )

I had a great surprise yesterday, when my Sindt D and Eb whistles arrived, out of the blue! I had ordered them early July '02,and didn’t expect to recieve them for another month or so.What’s more,John Sindt sent them to me without requesting hard cash up front-what a trustworthy gent.! I won’t give any kind of in-depth review at the moment-I haven’t had them long enough-but I’m Very impressed by the workmanship and quality of these two instruments. They certainly seem to have the ‘traditional’ sound that I like, but with much better quality and tuning than the so called ‘cheapos’-these certainly seem to be good examples of John’s ethos of producing a reliable ‘professional’ level instrument with an ‘old fashioned whistle sound’.This weekend I intend to investigate them in depth, and compare them carefully to my other whistles, including my favourite Doolin,Oak and Generations.

Congrats! I love my Sindts. They will get a bit more condensation that some of the non-brass ones, so I plan ahead and warm the fipple end of the next whistle under my arm while I play. That way it’s nice and toasty when I get to it. Dr Bronners is good too.

They are excellent whistles, capable of a variety of expressions, a pleasant voice, and a pretty respectable volume  That Eb is remarkable.

Mr Sindt is my hero

Thanks Gitchel,I soon noticed the condensation ‘problem’-which wasn’t surprising as the whistles arrived on what was probably the worst day of the British winter so far,and my flat(apartment)was cold.As you say,pre-warming and the application of soap or ‘Jet wash’ should almost eradicate it.Those brass mouthpieces make the whistle seem a little top heavy a first,in comparison to ‘plastic heads’,but I love 'em- the workmanship is 'spot on’The curved windway should help with clogging anyway. As I expected, the D does require half holing to get a decent c natural, but hey, that’s the nature of the beast,so i’m not complaining. On first playing the Eb seems to have the stronger tone of the two,and can take a cross fingered c,but it’s very early days with these instruments, so instead of writing,I should be playing! But all said and done,I think these are BRILLIANT whistles, and are already up there with my favourites (to date!).
