Best christmas 'present' this year!

This baby (in the key of D) arrived today, finally!
Ordered June26 2011 (just in time before he closed his order book) arrived today Dec. 28 2012, yay!

By the way, the rumour that he will retire is wrong according to John himself, it was just the backlog that was getting too much, hence closing the book until he catches up.

D or C?
My Eb was ordered Oct 2011 so only 4 months to wait
Enjoy

I edited my post now
Hang in there! its a special moment when you unwrap it

Just curious…doesn’t Mr. Sindt offer an Eb body for his D whistle…If I remember correctly, I paid an extra $10 for an Eb body when I ordered the D…I believe I paid $65 for the D…arrived within weeks..that was some time ago mind you…just curious why someone would order just an Eb or D when it seems, or seemed, a better deal to get both bodies for the same mouthpiece…fantastic whistle!..once I got mine ( Eb/D…C…A/Bb ) , I soon afterwards sold my Copeland brass High D…Have great fun with your Sindt!

Mr. Blackwood,

John does indeed make some really great whistles! I was just recently fortunate enough to find and purchase two Sindt sets, one in D/Eb/E and a bonus hybrid Sindt X Feadog D, and a C/C# with a bonus hybrid Sindt X Generation C. I am hopeful of completing my Sindt collection with the addition of Sindt B/Bb and A keys.

Wonderful whistles by a true craftsman!

Enjoy.

Cheers,
Cayden

Thanks!
I didn’t bother with Eb body because i almost never ever use/play a Eb whistle..
I do have Generation and iMpempe Eb’s in case the need should arise, but again - in spite of it being a good deal it would have been wasted in my case.
Cheers!

I too received my Sindt D & C whistles as the perfect Christmas surprise. One of the best gifts I ever bought myself  I ordered them in May of 2011 & anxiously awaited their arrival. Well worth the wait as I can’t seem to put them down.

Today I received my Garvie Low D in cocobola. Christmas and Birthday present.

I would post pictures (pictures available on Garvie Bagpipe website) but I am not sure how to do this. Have only had it a few hours to try out the whistle.

This is a tunable tapered bore instrument, the tuning slide and fittings are gold plated. Volumn medium, a little louder than my Kerry Songbird Low D. Windway is curved. Backpressure is about the same as the Susato Kildare Low D, but with much more control; able to hold long phases. Plays well into the 3rd octave G. Strong bell note and notes are well in tune (used an electronic tuner) can be played at full volumn without breaking into the next octave.

It weighs about the same as the Kerry songbird give or take a few grammes. The tone is rich, slightly reedy and very subtle. Pipers/super/ezy grip is required but is easier than the Kildare or Songbird. Will post more when I have spent more time playing.
