Hello, Does anyone know how to go about ordering/purchasing a John Sindt whistle? I have heard the wait is pretty long also.
Tin
Email John Sindt at:
sindtwhistle (at) aol (dot) com
(replace with the proper symbols)
and ask to be put on the list. It’s not
really that long. Probably a few months
the last time I ordered a D.
Thanks Fearfaoin! I watch a few folks from Ireland play beautifully on YouTube and they all were using what looked like Sindt whistles. The videos gave me the chills. Just wonderful. Thanks.
Good choice and well worth the wait ![]()
A fine whistle.
Sindt clip I posted the other day: http://www.box.net/shared/cs735ixerj
neat
pm’d you
How much is Mr. Sindt asking for a high D these days?
He seems to be asking €110,-, I first thought it were euros. I pm’d you on this one.
I just ordered a D whistle yesterday and the cost is $120 + $10 shipping (US) plus John is quoting a 4-5 month wait. From everything I’ve read & heard, it’s worth the money & the wait. Cheers…
I play one. It’s got such a beautiful pure traditional sound. It’s like playing a Gen improved a thousand times. The only thing is that I sometimes play outside or at happenings with our group (without a mic), and then you need another one because of the volume.
sindtwhistle at aol dot com - doesn’t work.. do anybody have an another email?
Pretty sure that’s the right e-mail address. Maybe he’s blocking Russian IPs or the yandex.ru domain. Can you try using a different e-mail account, like gmail?

I finally got mine that I ordered last year. I have to say: WOW! What a whistle. This thing has some of the sweetest tones I’ve ever heard and it hits all the notes just right. I can’t stop playing it and I would recomend it to anyone.
Great whistle.
I agree, I have all the keys that John makes and they are awesome! I was fortunate to get to know him early on when he wasn’t so busy. They do seem to be the whistle of choice right now. Paddy Maloney, Mary Bergin etc I have sent some over to Ireland years ago and they are certainly common over there now. They are easy to play. Yes they are a little quiet but I prefer that over some of the loud blowers out there. You will love this whistle!
All the best and happy whistling!
How’s the 0XX000 c-nat on yours?
In June John indicated “I’m about 9 to 10 months behind on delivery.”
My 2 cents worth. I have read the debates about the cnat, regarding John’s whistles, I use both fingering (half hole or 0XX) and they both work. You may have to “fine tune” the 0XX with a louder blow or slightly raising your middle finger until you are blowing in tune but I, myself, never do that. I think that you can play both and should be able to play both. They both have their place and in order to be an accomplished, you need both ways. IMVHO. I’ve had great discussions with some great players, on this topic, and it would be too long to get into here. There’s one great player that told me that she used 0XX when she was learning the whistle but she ONLY half holes it! She’s been playing over 40 years and she’s PDG! I don’t know how she does it sometimes but I listen to her Cnat with great envy! I would not let this debate deter me from buying a Sint whistle. BTW I would order the extra Eb tube. If you learn by ear, you wil find it very useful because a lot of the great whistle recordings, out there, have a lot of Eb whistle.
All the best
This could be your lucky day
