Just got my new sindt. 
It was mailed to me as john promised, and i haven’t paid him yet! It’s not very often you get service like that. 
What a great whistle. It sounds beautiful and is beautifully made.
I’m a VERY happy man, 
All i need now, is to learn half holing as many of you have suggested.

You just have to get used to the sharp c-nat using the standard 0XX000 (unless John has fixed it).

The more i play, the more i love this whistle.
It has a beautiful tone, and well balanced in both registers. I can really push the low D and E without it breaking up, and it’s responsiveness is superb.
This whistle, i think is a difficult one to beat.
It’s going to be difficult to teach myself to half hole after all this time, has any of you gone through this ? any tips?

I have had my Sindt for 3 years and it’s still the one I go back to after trying out something new. It’s a fantastic whistle. I solved the half-hole problem by replacing the original tube with a Feadog tube. The Feadog is slightly wider than the Sindt head so you have to sand off the excess. Use VERY fine sandpaper - 440 to 660 grit - and test the fit frequently, you don’t want to take too much off. The Feadog tube sounds just like the original tube but you will get an it-tune cross fingered C.

BTW, I’ll have to try burnsbyrne’s c-nat fix. I think I have a Feadog lying around somewhere in a drawer. If not, it mat be worth buying one. I’ve tried other tubes, but all have been too large of diam to make fit.
One thing to be aware of when ordering a Sindt is that there is a waiting list, and the price for the whistle may not be the price you ordered it at. The price of my D went up quite a bit during the waiting period. I still consider it a bargain, as it is really a perfect whistle.
What’s John charging now? At the time I got mine, they were something like $90 new. I lucked out and got mine used for $75, and in new condition.
I put a Gen D tube on mine. Stripped all the coating of it so just left pure brass and polished it up nice and shiney.
I actually think the Gen tube improves the whistle. The slightly wider bore and shorter tube of the Gen tube has given the Sindt a much purer tone and it sounds crisper to my ears. Seems a bit louder too (though that might be down to the purer tone).
