Lunasa on tour

Howdy, Lunasa is coming to my neck of the woods in a few weeks. I’m definatly going, but it looks like they are touring as a quartet. Where’s the fifth wheel?

Has anyone out there seen them, and who is missing from the lineup. ( the Merry Sisters of Fate personel)

Thanks, Jack

What makes you say they only have four members on tour? I don’t see any sign of that from their website.

Back in 2000, before Cillian was an “official” member, the posters only showed the other four, even though he was along. Perhaps you just saw one of these?

It’s certainly hard to imagine them as a quartet. They’ve got a very defined sound, and all five members are an important part of it.

Yeah, I can’t find anything about them touring as a quartet either. Ditto on what Colomon said. Cillian was not always an official member (for a brief space of time after John McSherry left). Anyways, let us know if you really have some evidence that Cillian (or anyone else) won’t be with them. I can’t imagine that being the case.
Chris

Yeah, I hope thats not the case. Thanks for the replies, I hope it was just a misleading promo ad. I got the info off of the Cal Tech events web site, and they always use old info. I can’t waite to see them, it will be my first time seeing this type of music live. What a way to start, Lunasa!!!

Hey anyone have this CD?

Called “Lunasa Live”

I think thats the first album. It went out of print but has just been reissued. Non of the stores around me have it yet.

Huh. The website listed a 44 minute running time for “Lunasa Live”, which is two minutes shorter than my copy of “Lunasa”. And Amazon.com lists the new version of “Lunasa” as having a new bonus track, so it should be even longer.

The cover they show is definitely the cover for the old album, though. And I haven’t heard anything else about a new live album.

Don’t know, we need help!!

Hello everyone,
Just got my tickets in the mail for Lunasa! They are coming to Pasadena Cal tech the 23rd. Got good seats middle center!
Should be a rad concert!
Jon

I’m going to miss this tour. How often do they come stateside?

John and JackOrion… sounds like you all are LA natives too. Most of the whistle class I go to will be there, I’ve got seats in the middle too. See ya at Cal Tech! LeeAnn

The link that makes you think there are only four is here:

Strange . . .

They talk about being a quintet in the body copy, but the pic is a quartet!

I hope to be going as well!

While I hadn’t seen that particular one before, it’s the same foursome that was in all the pre-Merry Sisters publicity stuff. My guess would be it’s just left over from that.

I saw Lunasa last night, They put on a great show. There were definately touring with five members. Kevin Crawford said that the “Lunasa Live” CD is now available in the U.S. with two bonus tracks. Previously the only way you could buy it in the US was directly from Lunasa at there concerts.

Mike

Which would tend to suggest it is indeed a new pressing of the first album. Certainly they never had a fourth album at any show I saw.

Hi everyone,
Lunasa is coming in two days! Can’t wait…
karen Casey is coming to pasadena March 2.
The orginizers for the concert, coupled her up with two Bluegrass groups, and they were going to have a festival… Only 18 tickets sold,( I wonder why…) So they are going to have it at Thoorp Church. It looks like a junior high school auditorium, seats about 100. I saw Susan McKeown and fiddler great
Jonny Cuningham there last year, about 80 people showed up! Great concert, no body seems to want to go to concerts out here.
Bunch of old fuddy-duddys. jon
