Lunasa Concert

Leeann and Jack, how did you like the Lunasa concert? I thought they were awesome! There new CD should be killer. I was in isle O,center I thought I spotted the Whisle class dancing in the isles!I am learning Penny Whistle, Low Whistle and flute, there was plenty of everything! Now I want to get some Uilleann pipes too! To much of a good thing!
I like how they change tempo in there sets, they are so tight!
I guess I don’t get out much… Jon

Jon, yep we were dancing in the back, lol. Awesome concert, not loud enough tho. I love their energy and awesome interpretation of even the simplest of tunes. So, I got to shake Kevin Crawford’s hand afterwards, told him I wanted a little talent by osmosis (g)Our group had a great session afterward, we invited the band of course, who had to poliety decline (LOL), but it was great anyhow. Email me if you want the date of the next session. LeeAnn

Wow!! I hear ya, the Uilleann pipes are amazing, I’d love to get a set myself. I freaked out when Sean pulled out his bass Bflat Overton whistle. I have never seen one, the thing was HUGE!! I’ve had one on order now for a few months so mine should be coming soon.

They were absolutly amazing. We were in row L infront of Sean. We brought binoculars so we could get close up to the fingers. I was spying those pipes, incredible instrument. It was very cool to hear them play Morning Nightcap, and other tunes, plus some new material. How was it when they had three whistles going at the same time!!

Was that the whistle class dancing in the back at the end? Where is the whistle class at? I’d like to maybe get involved in something like that.

What a great thing to see. Lunasa!! Wow!!!

I think I saw you with the binoculars, you were two rows closer then me! When I saw them, I thought it would of been nice to have brought some.
That was one of the best parts of the concert, when they broke out the 3 low whistles! Were they playing different parts on each whistle? It sounded way cool!
That Low whistle Bb must take a lot of lung power to drive it! Jon

Yeah the binoculars were great to have there. I was checking out thier fingers and my oh my did they fly!!

There was alot of interaction going on when all three were playing whistle, doubling up, drones and harmony lines. It sounded absolutly amazing.

I’ll let you know when I get the Bflat what it’s all about. Colin says it’s a matter of the way you breath into it. I believe him because thats how my other Overtons are, I get a long breath or short breath depending on how I control the breath pressure.

Hopefully we will meet up sometime at a session or other concert.

Till then, Cheers!!

Jack,
I would be interested how the whistle sounds,
yet another desire is forming… My friends are already asking how many whistles and flutes can I play at once! Right now I go from my new 1800’s flute that I just fixed up, to the Susato low Whistle, and then to the trusty Oak penny whistle. A low Bb whistle would round the collection out,
for now…
Maybe I will see you at the Dervish concert in April, That would be another great concert!
See ya,
Jon
