I see a thread pop up from time to time about a group called Lunasa. Well, I was at Borders Books last night and they have two albums, the self-titled Lunasa, and the most recent Merry Sisters of Fate.
I figured I’d just ask which one was best, but I got on the web just a minute ago and found out that they’re going to be in my area (D.C. area) on the 24th. I think I’ll go out there and listen to them live and then decide which album to get.
Is anyone else from the D.C. area planning on going?
Bad news… The show has been sold out for a month. I had been planning on going for a couple months but was waiting to buy tickets so that I could get some of my friends to go and get hooked on irish music. Too late now. On the plus side, Danu is coming to Nat. Geo next friday. They’re definitely worth checking out.
As far as Cd’s go. The search function will turn up a thread about that very thing. My own favorite depends on the day.
I tried to send a PM, but it may have been lost. I wanted to let you know that Liz Carroll and John Doyle (I know not purely whistle related) are going to be in Vienna, VA on 3/16 at a place called Jammin Java.
I’m sad that I missed getting to see Lunasa again (one of the best shows I’ve seen and very nice guys) but this one can be nothing short of amazing.
Otherworld would probably have to be my favorite if for no other reason than that’s the one I’ve learned to play the most tunes from.
However, all of them are very good, and get a lot of play. You can also CDs directly from Lunasa’s website (also the sheet music). They ship things out very quickly, and the shiopping cost is quite reasonable.
