What’s the secret to the chat room? I can get in but can’t see any “conversation.” Do I have to download the IRC stuff - if so, which one? I feel so old and pathetic…

All I’ve ever done is click on the chat, put in a nickname and enter. What isp are you using and what kind of computer are you using. And you should always make sure there is actually someone in there to talk to. I’m in there right now so try it.

Well, I tried it - I could see the box, the place to type in a sentence, who was there, etc., but no conversation. I tried typing in a sentence and it disappeared - did you see it? AOL is my ISP (that’s right isn’t it?). I’ve got your basic PC with Windows 98.

If you were in netscape, try using internet explorer. I use netscape but sometimes netscape can get screwy.
If it still doesn’t work I’m sure someone can walk you through getting and setting up an IRC chat client.
I saw you in there, and I could read what you wrote, could you read what I wrote? With you set up you should be able to do. I don’t get what the problem is. Keep trying.
No, I couldn’t see any conversation at all. Must be I need what Beth said - the IRC download. I tried that last night but the only one that was for Utah said it was an old version and might or might not work. Maybe I’ve been locked out!
Don’t use AOL, use the internet explorer.

. I’ve tried going through Internet Explorer - no luck. Tried downloading two versions of the ICR - no luck. Even had my computer guru daughter try it and she gave up in frustration. It’s obvious to me that the Crystal People have locked me out - afraid of what I might say, I guess. You’ll just have to do without me.

I just did a search on the board for all occurances of ‘crystal people’ (both words together).
We have a lot of concern here - maybe there really is a conspiracy. 
Dont give up, we need the intelligent conversation there. You probably have a scroll arrow that you are not seeing or have eliminated from your Prefs or Properties.
I can’t use Netscape at all because I have to scroll up each time amessage is posted (Explorer works even tho I hate Bill). Otherwise I get a blank white screen just like you describe. Sometimes, if I try and change the overall screen size, the scrolling arrow disappears. I think something like this is happening to you.

I’m certain that an intelligent adult presence is needed in the chat room, but alas it won’t be mine. Nothing I’ve tried has worked, and to add insult to injury I tried entering the chat room on my computer at work (shhh…) and was able to get right in. Spent a few seconds talking to myself…

Try to download mIRC! It’s definitely more userfriendly than web-chat.
Tried that twice, Claudine, but to no avail. Something else is wrong. IRC downloads but makes no difference.
