As much as an experiment as for any other reason, I’ve created a chatroom within the Yahoo chat network. I’m guessing to get in you need Yahoo Messenger, which is a free download, but I’m not sure. The name of the chat room if you want to try it out is Yahoo chiffy. I’m there as of 7:15 p. m. Central time as boxwoodflute.

Okay, as far as I can tell, you’re not in Yahoo Messenger chat and I’m trying Yahoo Chat now, but it keeps telling me it’s “not downloading normally.” I’ll try again in a bit.
Sorry Susan, try again. I had to leave for a bit. It’s not in a category. I decided not to make it public, so it doesn’t appear in any list. Is there a way you can just name a room to enter it? If not, what’s your Yahoo name, and maybe I can invite you?

There’s no place I can name a room. But I’m still unclear…are you in Yahoo Messenger Chat or Yahoo Chat? There are two.
Susan, I can’t see the difference. One screen says Yahoo Chat, but I created the room while in Yahoo Messenger.
Lemme try to make a public room that can be found in the lists.

hey carol, say hello to the gang for me, I don’t have yahoo messanger and my dad won’t let me put it on his stupid computer because he’s virus paranoid. 
Dont worry about it Sam. I had forgotten what a poison little pill Yahoo Messenger is until trying to join up tonight. It freezes my computer better than anything else and its not even made by Microsoft. Dad’s right.
I don’t think you have to do the messenger part, but try going here http://uk.chat.yahoo.com/ and register then log on. If you can’t find the room, add a friend ( uts_2) to the friends list and then click join friend.
Our chatroom seems to be back to normal. As usual, step lightly on the rug covering the hole in the floor.
