Where to Visit in Ireland (from Westport, Co. Mayo)

I’ll be in Ireland for a “walking tour” in April of 2006. When the tour is over I thought I might jump on the train and go to one or two whistle or flute related places. I don’t know - maybe a instrument maker’s place, or maybe a great place to listen to music.

To be honest, my ignorance is exceeded only by my good looks in this matter. So I thought I’d throw the matter open to the group for ideas.

Oh! and I’ll be based out of Westport, Co, Mayo mostly. Any board readers in the area? If so, suggestions on places to listen to music would be helpful.

Cheers,

Mike Cronnelly of M&E is driving distance from Westport. It would make a pleasant day’s excursion if he’s available.

You could check out Bell Mullet on the north west coast,it’s almost identical to the coast in Kerry near me,which is stunning.
Phil.

Matt Molloy’s pub in Westport has music every night. Very charming pub with many photos of Matt from over the years.
