Visiting Galway, Ireland

Well…not me, but my son.
He’s only 13 but hes an awesome whistle player, and this is a real dream come true for him.
He’ll be there this August (with his grandmother), and I was hoping to hook him up with some musicians and sessions while he’s there.
Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks
Charlie

Lucky him. I actaully might be going to Limerick or Dublin in April.

If he’s into stringed instruments at all, instrument restorer Paul Doyle welcomes visitors into his workshop. At least he did when I was there in 2003.

Contact me closer to the date and I will give you some contacts.

Tommy Keane teaches whistle and pipes in Galway. As he teaches many students, he might be able to arrange a get together with kids the same age.

Michael Vignoles (pipemaker and bodhran maker) lives just on the edge of Galway in the Claddagh.

He usually knows of most of the session goings on there, and you couldn’t meet a nicer guy!

You can find his contact info on his website: www.irishpipesmaker.com
