What are we gonna call the whistle giveaway?

Well? We’re rolling…so let’s give this one a name, two more whistles going to Vietnam and Cambodia! Fanatic Corr’s fans all!

Whistles to/for the world?

I still like “Canticum Novum”

Redwolf

I likr it, too, but who else reads Latin?

I donate the following graphic for the cause.

Walden

OK, looks good to me Can we have the NWA for a sponsor?

I certainly don’t read Latin…So what does “canticum novum” mean?

My Latin is pretty poor but I think it means “New song.”

Latin sounds a little churchy to me, non-sectarian anyone? BTW, here’s Prisanna, from Thailand! Try this URL for a picture of Prisanna in Bangkok!http://spe.midco.net/mandarin/Prisanna.jpg

Edited for ther correct URL!

Is this the correct URL because it wants a username and a password?

Let me try again!

Possible Free Whistle program name submissions:

Whistle Aid
Joy To The World
Whistles For Peace
Whistle Peace Corr
(I’m really digressing here.)
WhOA: Whistle Outreach Association

It means “A New Song”

If we’re just going to do this haphazardly, I guess it doesn’t matter what it’s called. I was envisioning working primarily (though not exclusively) though various established mission groups, most of which are religious in nature and would immediately get the reference. Better chance of reaching more people that way, but whatever.

Redwolf

Some of us are not Christians and want to do this anyhow, and others who might want to contribute may not do so if this not non-sectarian. (Delivered with a non-commital, matter-of-fact shrug) The people who like whistles and want whistles will show up here, and if somebody else wants a whistle sent to somebody else, all they have to do is send me an e-mail and a snail mail address! Maybe we don’t even need an organization right now, either.

That might be best then. I still hope to develop a nonprofit organization that makes music available worldwide, working through outreach organizations (something I’ve been thinking of doing for some time) but this may not be the time or place. Haphazard giveaways aren’t my style…I’m much more of a “big picture” sort of person.

I think this may be one of those start small, get big kind of deals.

I don’t think the Latin name has religious connotations. Latin is the language of classical literature. The closest thing to a universal language in times past.

But here are some anglosuggestions:

WhOA Aid
Dale’s Kids
The Dances With Weasels Foundation
The Haphazard Giveaway
Whistle Challenge International
Interwhistle Collective
WhOAnon
Tinwhistle Empowerment

How about Whistlers Anonymous.
